What is Podiatry?

Podiatry is the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. It also includes the treatment and management of any lesions or sores in the leg below the knee. The education required for a Podiatrist is a four year undergraduate degee as well as four years at a Podiatric Medical School. There are only a handful of these schools across the country.

Once the doctorate is obtained, the Podiatrist must further their education in an accredited training program called a residency. Each state has differing requirements for the physician to practice. Therefore, not all Podiatrists will have the same background in training education. The minimum requirement is one year of residency training.

Here at Grand Lake Podiatry, the majority of the Physicians have excelled above that and are three-year residency trained. The physicians continue to further their education with seminars and other training programs.

Grand Lake Podiatry offers easy in-office vascular testing using the PADnet System. Click the logo below for more information: BioMedix
